A Weekend of “Performing Beautifully”

This past weekend, 50 women descended upon the Napa Valley to experience firsthand the latest product innovations in Oakley’s 2010 Fall Women’s Active Collection – including sunglasses and apparel. What better way to evaluate a new product than to perform in it? That’s exactly what these 50 women did – and perform they did, engaging in activities including a 5K run, a bike tour throughout Napa, a hike and a hot air balloon excursion.

Event attendees were media outlets including Women’s Health, Fitness, Shape, Lucky, Marie Claire, Elle Canada, FitSugar, MSN, The Today Show, GMA and O Magazine/Oprah.com. Retailers in attendance included Sunglass Hut, Lenscrafters, Sport Chalet, Backcountry, Zappos and Spareparts Canada. Each of these influential women were chosen to attend so that they could be the first worldwide to see and experience these new products, and also to encourage them to share their opinion of how the products performed with the greater group of women they interact with. There can be no better endorsement of our product than that which comes through third party editorial or favorable opinion.

Along with experiencing the Fall 2010 sunglasses and apparel, attendees were given the opportunity to meet and spend time with two of Oakley’s Women Ambassadors, Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson. Karena lead our 5K run and biking activities, while Katrina lead the hike. Throughout the weekend, they showcased many of Oakley’s Fall 2010 Active apparel pieces, so that attendees would be able to see the apparel live, during the many different activities participated in.

Oakley sneak previewed the five new Women’s sunglasses pieces that will be launching in November 2010 – two of which are part of the Active Collection.

The weekend was a fun filled and memorable time that provided attendees a clear understanding of the Active Oakley woman, and who our Active product targets. Each of these women left Napa certainly having experienced what it feels like to “Perform Beautifully” – in Oakley style.
