Sage Erickson is on a roll. After winning a 6-Star event in Oceanside, Calif. a month ago, the stunning 22-year-old from Ventura followed up that result with another win thousands of miles away on the coast of Spain over the weekend. In clean 3- to 4-foot waves at Playa de Pantin, Sage put her power turns to work, and as a result won the 6-Star Cabreiroa Pantin Classic Pro over Alizee Arnaud of France in dominating fashion, posting a score of 16.10 to Arnaud’s 9.83.

When Sage made it back to the beach after the final, she put on her favorite teal Frogskins, and was chaired up the beach by her brother, Noah, and a friend – her arms raised in victory.

“This victory feels amazing. Coming from California with a win and having so much support there and then coming here and you know the Spanish are so welcoming and their cheers have motivated me throughout the event,” Sage said. “I’m just so grateful and excited to be back at number 1!”

After her win in Oceanside in mid-August at the 6-Star Paul Mitchell SuperGirl Pro, Sage was simply stoked to finally get an allusive 6-Star win.

“I haven’t had a big win in a 6-Star and I’m just looking to requalify for the [World Tour],” Sage said. “I’ve had trouble in my rookie year and this win brings a lot of confidence going in to Europe and I really want to be on the Tour next year, so I’m really thrilled with this win.”

Now she has two wins and re-qualification.

With the pair of wins, Sage moved atop the ASP Women’s World Rankings, officially securing her spot on the 2013 ASP World Tour. After a rough rookie year competing against the world’s best surfers, Sage is excited to get back to competing and make a push for a world championship.

“To be in that number one spot in the World Qualifying Series is such an honor,” Sage said. “The group of women is so prestigious and to be on top feels amazing!”
