Mikaela Shiffrin hails from Vail, Colorado and is now a standout American alpine skier. She made a name for herself with a spectacular breakthrough in front of a home crowd, finishing eighth in just her second World Cup slalom start. Shiffrin began turning heads almost instantly when she finished in the top 15 of her first two NorAm Cup races. But the heads started spinning when she won a super combined in British Colombia two weeks later and transferred that momentum into a NorAm title and two World Cup starts as a first year J3.     Tyler Wright definitely isn’t Hawaiian. But her straight rippage at the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing at Sunset on the North Shore this past weekend might have fooled a few folks. The Australian Oakley Team youngster bested true Sunset Beach local Coco Ho, ASP World Champion Stephanie Gilmore and World No. 2 Sally Fitzgibbons to top the podium and grab the event title in an impressive display. The 16-year-old shredder also bagged honors as the female ‘Triple Crown Rookie of the Year.’ Another Aussie, Oakley’s Julian Wilson, charged big time at Sunset Beach, powering his way to a second place finish – barely edged by a mere 0.17 points by Brazil’s Raonio Montero.

    Tally one more Lake Louise win. Oakley’s Gold Medal Ski Star Lindsey Vonn smashed her way back to the top this past weekend, grabbing a resounding Super G win over German rival Maria Riesch and Julia Mancuso. The FIS World Cup event is no stranger to Lindsey, who’s racked up 14 podium finishes and eight wins at the contest over the past six years.

    If you think Oakley Tennis Star Sam Stosur has been ‘flying under the radar’ in her rise to stardom…not for much longer. The amazing Aussie was presented with the inaugural John Newcombe Medal this past weekend – topping worldwide tennis superstars Llyeton Hewitt and Anastasia Rodionova as Australia’s premier player in 2010. The award was an enormous honor for Sam, who has been making enormous waves in the sport as of late.
