Mikaela Shiffrin hails from Vail, Colorado and is now a standout American alpine skier. She made a name for herself with a spectacular breakthrough in front of a home crowd, finishing eighth in just her second World Cup slalom start. Shiffrin began turning heads almost instantly when she finished in the top 15 of her first two NorAm Cup races. But the heads started spinning when she won a super combined in British Colombia two weeks later and transferred that momentum into a NorAm title and two World Cup starts as a first year J3. With yet another podium sweep, the O Women’s Snowboard Team dominated the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Halfpipe Contest – lead by Spanish ripper Queralt Castellet, who claimed her second World Cup victory with a 87 point score to top fellow O Rider Sophie Rodriguez. The tiny charger threw down a frontside air to backside 540, frontside 540, backside air and frontside 720 – topped off with some major height and an ultra-clean run – to take out the field.

Exhibit O: Yet another epic Ironman World Championship in Kona – where Oakley Team Star Craig “Crowie” Alexander shattered the World Record by finishing in an astonishing 8:03:56. All while Chrissie Wellington, finding redemption from a disappointing 2010 and rough start to the year, powered through to victory from behind with an 8:55:08 performance of her own. But Oakley’s presence definitely isn’t ever limited to racking up Ironman Title after Ironman Title. The O has been a more-than-prominent part of the mix at Kona for the better part of the decade.
