Mikaela Shiffrin hails from Vail, Colorado and is now a standout American alpine skier. She made a name for herself with a spectacular breakthrough in front of a home crowd, finishing eighth in just her second World Cup slalom start. Shiffrin began turning heads almost instantly when she finished in the top 15 of her first two NorAm Cup races. But the heads started spinning when she won a super combined in British Colombia two weeks later and transferred that momentum into a NorAm title and two World Cup starts as a first year J3.     Mariana Pajon can already claim the title of Olympic Champion and World Champion, so what’s another UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Title on the old resume? The 21-year-old Columbian BMX superstar took down some of the world’s best to win the World Cup #3 stop in Papendal, Netherlands this past weekend. Oakley ladies Arielle Martin and Lauren Reynolds rounded out the podium in Europe.

    Nearly ten thousand athletes and some fifty thousand fans make the annual pilgrimage to Monterey, California for the mountain bike season opener, the Sea Otter Classic.   • American Olympian Gwen Jorgensen Wins Omegawave World Triathlon Series San Diego, Oakley Women Sweep Podium

    In a highly competitive, back-and-forth battle at Mission Beach, San Diego, American Gwen Jorgensen took the title of 2013 Omegawave World Triathlon Series San Diego Champion. The Wisconsin native became the first ever American to win a World Triathlon Series event, beating out Britain’s Non Stanford and Australia’s Emma Moffat, who took second and third respectively. Jorgensen snuck just under the two our mark for her first ever win as a USA Triathlon Elite competitor. Additionally her win crowned her USA Elite Women’s National Champion.
