Q & A

  1. If there’s one thing that people in the industry would recognize you by, what would that be?

I’m mostly known as being one of the “Force girls”. I am 15x Champ, John Force’s, daughter and Ashley Force Hood’s little sister. Some would say I’m a lot like my dad, John. Apparently I talk like him in interviews and have the same smile. Haven’t decided if it’s a good thing or not yet! Lol

  2. Word Association:

Tweet= The word my dad uses when he is actually trying to tell me to text a person for him (My dad has never texted anyone in his life)… or if I’m on my cell phone he always yells at me to stop “tweeting”, assuming that I am. Vision= Is a little hazy at 300mph Friend= A person who sticks by your side and understands when you miss their birthday, wedding, etc because of your job. Foe= I don’t think it’s good having any! I try to make nice with everyone. For everyone else, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it at all. Boogie= Usually caused by clutch dust after a 300mph run! lol

  3. When did you first start racing? Where/why?

I grew up out at the racetrack and loved traveling to each event with my family to watch my dad race. I loved hanging out with the crew guys, getting dirty and watching them work on these race cars.. it’s pretty unbelievable what they do. However, I first started racing when I turned 16 when I got my Super Comp Dragster license, only a month after getting my regular CA driver’s license. I raced in this category for about 3 years, going about 170mph in 9 seconds, before moving into the Top Alcohol Dragster category. I raced a 270mph Top Alcohol Dragster, in 5 seconds, for about 3 years before graduating from college and testing in the Fuel Funny Car. I’ve always known that I wanted to race a Fuel Funny Car with my dad, ever since I was a little girl, so it really was a dream come true in 2011. My dad let me go testing in a Funny Car for a season before I could compete with the rest of them on the circuit. I competed in my first professional season in Funny Car as a Rookie in 2012 with Traxxas as my sponsor and picked up my first win in Seattle, WA, at only the 15th race. I finished my first season in the #5 spot in points, while also earning the Rookie of the Year Award. I couldn’t have asked for my Rookie Season to turn out any better and I’m having the time of my life! I get to race a 300mph Funny Car in 4 seconds down a racetrack and travel across the country with my family while getting to compete against my dad. I really am living my dream, thanks to all my sponsors and their support! ☺

  4. What drives you to be sicker than everyone else?

This is a passion I’ve had ever since I first watched my dad race a Fuel Funny Car, even when his car caught on fire, blew up and flipped upside down, I knew I still wanted to do it. I think the motivation and drive of being better than everyone else on the racetrack, especially all of the boys, is motivation enough! I love the adrenaline and the butterflies you get in your stomach before every single run.

  5. If you weren’t ripping in your car, what kind of menial task would you want to do?

Learn how to be an excellent chef or work at Oakley because I always feel like they have the most fun at work! Or I would work in the media side of drag racing. I would say to host a talk show/news/sports but I can’t memorize lines for the life of me!

  6. If you had to share a bathroom with one Oakley rider/driver, who would it NOT be and why?

Ron Capps because he always seems so put together that I feel like he would hog all the bathroom time!

  7. Tell me a funny story about an Oakley rider/driver...(We’ll never tell)

As a kid, I went to McDonald’s with my dad one day and got a kid’s happy meal, which came with a Cruz Pedregon McDonald’s sponsored toy Funny Car. I hid it from my dad knowing that Cruz was one of the toughest competitors out at the race track, and took it with me to play with in his trailer out at the track. I must have left the toy car lying out on the counter because my dad found me later and asked why I was playing with the McDonald’s toy Funny Car instead of the John Force Castrol GTX toy Funny Car, and my best excuse was that it didn’t come in my happy meal. This was the last day I got to play with that McDonald’s Funny Car because my dad, very conspicuously, switched my Funny Car toy for a Castrol GTX one the next day! I think he wanted to make sure I was rooting for the right team!?

  8. Talent…other than doing no handed pushups:

I used to be a cheerleader ever since I was a little kid and through most of my high school years and could do three back handsprings in a row. (It’s been awhile though) lol I’m also getting pretty good at racing my dad with the Traxxas Radio Control Funny Cars!

  9. Oakleys are…

Chrome Caveats! I’m wearing them in almost every interview on ESPN2 after I get out of my race car, after a run.

  10. Best song to ride to:

I find a variety of new songs to listen to before every race whether it’s country, top 40’s, rock, house, or alternative (I listen to everything), but the song “Chemicals Between Us” by Bush seems to get me pumped up every time!

  11. What is something that you wouldn't normally tell someone about yourself?

My ribs are uneven and have been that way since I was born. And my pinky finger is permanently damaged from when I broke it as a kid (slamming it into a sliding car door) and my mom didn’t think I needed to go to a doctor. 15 years later I have a fat pinky finger full of cartilage and my dad constantly makes fun of me.

  12. Fist pumping? Head Banging? C-Walking? Electric Slide? Or Funky Chicken? Which one? Or all of the above?

Little bit of everything all rolled into one amazing dance move.

  13. Dream vacation spot:

I took a trip to Thailand and China with my sister Brittany and a friend of ours. This was definitely a destination we have always wanted to visit, and finally did! The beaches are crystal clear and we got to ride elephants, see monkeys, caves, and temples, go snorkeling and ride a bamboo raft down a river! I also would love to see Australia, Greece, and different parts of Europe!

  14. Favorite Track:

Seattle, WA has to be a personal favorite track for me because I have won a National event here in both Top Alcohol Dragster and in the Fuel Funny Car class. There are so many other tracks on the circuit that I look forward to racing at like: Pomona (my home track), Sonoma, Las Vegas, Reading (for the record setting times there), Charlotte, Indy, etc.

  15. The Track/Course You Dread Most:

The track in Dallas, TX only because this is the track my dad had a nearly fatal crash at in his Funny Car back in 2007 (although it doesn’t bother him to race on it), I for some reason get the chills every time I pull in the parking lot because I remember exactly how I felt the day it happened. Definitely was a scary moment hearing that your father is being air lifted to the local hospital and no one knew what condition he was in.

  16. Would you rather get punched in the gut by Mr. T. or super roundhouse kicked in the face by Chuck Norris?

I’ll take being punched in the gut by Mr. T because all that pain would come to an end… not the case with the pain of a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

  17. People would be super surprised if they knew that you…

I am a very shy person when you first meet me but have a very sarcastic and spunky personality once I’m comfortable with the person.

  18. You’ve been mistaken for…

My sister, Ashley Force Hood, all the time, even though she’s brunette and I’m blonde!

  19. Jay Leno, Tosh.O or Conan?

Jay Leno because of his love for cars, but Tosh.O because he’s hilarious

  20. Last words…

Thanks to Oakley for all of your support this season and hope to see everyone at the races! ☺
