Redemption: Chrissie Wellington Shatters All-Time Ironman World Record at Ford Ironman Arizona
She’s back. The Triathlon World was in shock when Chrissie Wellington dropped out of the Ironman World Championships in Kona this past October. But after emerging victorious at the Ford Ironman Arizona race this past week in Tempe – shattering the all-time Ironman World Record – she had one thing to say about it. “This was my Kona.” But it was much, much more. Wellington’s time of 8:36:13 set a new all-time Ironman world record and set her at the finish line 29 minutes ahead of runner-up Linsey Corbin. Her feat bested the previous World-Record Holder, Sandra Walllenhorst of Germany, who previously had held the record at 8:47:27.
