Bio
Layne Beachley has never had it easy, but you would never know it based off of both the personal and professional accomplishments she has earned over the years. Through personal hardship, heath issues and political and professional battles, she rose to the top once again in 2006 and claimed her seventh World Title. This accomplishment, along with several historical big wave drops, multiple video segments and numerous professional awards (such as being inducted to Surfing’s Hall of Fame in 2006), makes Layne Beachley arguably the best female surfer to ever exist.
Layne’s style of surfing is similar to her personality—strong, aggressive and steady. She’s looking ahead to break more records and start new projects, like the upcoming Layne Beachley Classic which takes place October 8-14 at Northern Beaches, NSW, Australia. She will also be serving as the Austrailian women’s coach at the Summer X Game’s first women’s surf competition. When she’s not surfing, she’s staying busy with her founded charity, Aim for the Stars , a foundation that supports the cultural, academic and sporting dreams of young women. She also rocks out on tour with her INXS guitarist boyfriend, Kirk Pengilly.
