Oakley's Harley Clifford Wins Wake Games
The top wake athletes from throughout the globe hit the waters of the Orlando Watersports Complex in Orlando, Fla. this past weekend for the 2010 Air Nautique Wake Games. The four-day pro-am contest was the first event of the King of Wake series for the season, bringing in over 200 riders that competed in all divisions from Grassroots to Pro Men wakeboard and wakeskate.
It was a successful weekend for the Oakley wake team as they started off the event on Thursday with another Square O Session. The whole team was on hand at the Orlando Watersports Complex, where local Oakley employees and their families showed up for a BBQ and private cable session with team riders Keith Lyman, Aaron Rathy, George Daniels, Oli Derome, Harley Clifford, Amber Wing and Nicola Butler. Local Oakley reps Javier and Rich were on hand at the booth cooking burgers and hot dogs and showcasing all the latest Oakley eyewear and Apparel to the crew.
Aside from the Square O Session and the Performance Ski-n-Surf retail booth, with all the latest polarized eyewear and Oakley apparel, on-site, the Oakley Wake team handled their business on the water. Harley Clifford, Oakley’s newest addition to the team, dominated the contest throughout the weekend and took the top spot in the Pro Mens Division. After winning the Pro Tour last season, Harley is on track to take the overall King of Wake Title for 2010.
In the Pro Women’s division, Oakley’s Amber Wing and Nicola Butler finished third and second, respectively. The Wake Games defending Champion Dallas Friday won. Overall it was a great weekend. The Oakley team rode exceptionally and there was a huge turnout at the event as fans were stoked to see their favorite riders take to the water.
