World Wakeboard Assoc. Nationals

Over the weekend, 200 wakeboarders, both amateurs and professionals, competed for the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships. We certainly had the spot locked down.

Oakley athlete Keith Lyman battled it out in the Men’s Pro wake. Only the winner of multiple 4-man heats could advance to the finals. Keith’s heat was 1st, and, unfortunately, he was knocked out by Danny Harf, the winner of the event. Although Keith didn’t make the finals, he was a true ambassador. He was a hit with the kids, and sported our gear head to toe!

For the Pro Women’s finals, Oakley athlete Dallas Friday did what she always has done—win! Friday defended her National Championship and has yet to lose an event in 2005. Local Oakley grassroots ripper Laura Lohrmann also finished in fourth place in the four-woman final.

In the Pro Wakeskate finals, Oakley athlete George Daniels stomped some ridiculous moves in less-than ideal conditions. The wind had picked up, and there were no bindings to hold their dogs in place. Even still, he took second with local Razorblade lover Collin Wright, who followed in third.

All said and done, we had AMAZING exposure at this event. We owe much thanks to Dallas Friday and Keith Lyman for their signings and for loving what they do; Matty Swanson for connects and products; Mark Masanovich for California representation; Scott Wood, who had the Oakley/Mastercraft boat in all the right spots; Kim Noble, equipment director and fanatical ‘Shocker Mom;’ Spencer Walling for rockin’ the 1’s and 2’s and stretching it out; our Mastercraft crew Matt and Mark; and the ladies formerly known as the ‘Fox Lake Shockers,’ S#1 Sharah, S#2 Krissy, S#3 Jackie and S#4 Chrissy.
