Bio
Andrew Adkison is one of the best competitive wakeboarders out there, from being named Rookie of the year in 2002, to becoming a two-time world champion. Andrew is one of the biggest names in wakeboarding. Being placed on numerous covers, filmed in some of the biggest production videos to date, and also by being one of the biggest comedians in the sport. If Andrew ever decides to move away from wakeboarding, it wouldn’t be a far stretch seeing him in the next Will Ferrell movie.
Q & A
Wakeboarding Is
A way to Transcend boundaries and personal limits. It's also a way to completely clear your head of everything else. I haven't found something I enjoy more.
O Favorites
I like the versatility in the clothing line. You can really show your unique style within one brand. That's hard to find anywhere else. The new boardshorts are pimp and the Inmate would have to be my favorite shade. The time tank is seriously B A. That means bad @$$. My favorite shoe is the Habanero. It's one you can wear as casual or a dressed up as you want. Oh and the O rocker. Does anyone else think it's crazy that they even exist?
Travel Can Be
Eye opening, life changing, a means to self-actualization, and a motivator. The more I end up in amazing places there more it makes me want to see the next place. It's been a great opportunity to see so many other cultures. I've become as addicted to traveling as I am to riding my board.
Photo or Film
Why? You have to have both. I really enjoy a great photo. It's a way to capture a single moment and wrap it with art. With film you can do the same but you get to see the entirety.
The Fans
Are great. I can relate to them 100 percent. I was a fan of this sport long before I was doing it, and will always remain a fan of the sport long after I'm done riding.
Contests Are
A fun environment win or lose. They are a great way to meet people that enjoy the same thing you do.
I Prefer
Paper over plastic. You can just fit more in. It's fewer trips you have to make from the car. Sure it's heavier but you know you try to carry all those bags at once anyways.
Oakley Is Different
Oakley for me has always represented the forefront. To be a piece of a team that is always an innovator has been the opportunity of a lifetime. Our teaming up started seven years ago at a grass roots level and has become of solid foundation of my career.
My Parents
Are so supportive. They have always known when to give just the right amount of support, and when to let me learn it on my own. It's nice to know they are proud for me to be doing what I love to do.
Childhood dreams?
Seriously to play some sort of sport professionally. Until the Ping Pong carrer takes off I'll have to roll with this wake thing.
Toughest obstacle
When we were in Tokyo this year we did one of those ninja challenges. They had a pull up bar you had to hang from and try to jump with your arms to the some higher rungs. I have some photos of that one.
great memories
I now have one memory that stands out from the rest. Getting to take a fly along with the Navy's Blue Angels. Wow!
Most proud of
My useless talents. Juggling, pong, foosball, golden eye for N64, I'd probably have to say just taking the unbeaten path
Listen to this
A cockroach can live up to nine days without its head before it starves to death. Weird huh? Along with my useless talents I have plenty of useless facts!
Words to live by
Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
