Oakley Activates At Pro Wakeboard Tour

On a hot sunny day in Acworth, Georgia Oakley rider Harley Clifford and the newly formatted Pro Wakeboard Tour made history in front of almost 10,000 spectators. An estimated 3,000 of that audience were on boats, houseboats and pontoons tied together in a massive floating water village.

With what used to be a 3-day competition now has been transformed into 1-day of wakeboarding and festival atmosphere including a super exciting six-person final, double up and kicker contests to keep the crowd engaged for over 8 hours.

The event has so much to do for fans while not watching the action on the water. The tour sponsors are all on-site showcasing their latest products, hosting team signings, give-aways and raffles, plus a new main stage featuring a live DJ and drummer keeping the music flowing all day.

Oakley and retailer Ambush Boarding Company partnered this year on site with one of the best locations right next to the athlete tent and dock. Local Oakley sales rep Mark Scanti set up a tent in front of Ambush’s retail location and was showcasing the latest in Oakley eyewear, board shorts and t-shirts.

The highlight of the day was the Oakley team aughtograph signing that went for well over an hour. Keith Lyman, Aaron Rathy, Harley Clifford and Oliver Derome signed over 200 copies of the award winning Push Process wakeboard and wakeskate movie.

If that wasn’t enough, long time Oakley head to toe wakeboarder Keith Lyman spend most of the day in the Oakley and Ambush tent talking with fans and selling product. Keith’s expertise is second to none when it comes to product testing and knowledge of how Oakley’s gear performs. And it showed with the crowd responding by purchasing several products that Keith endorses.

Another great story was one young Georgia local had seen Harley Clifford wearing the new Holbrook sunglass and asked to have them. The young 16-year old champion quickly replied that if he wanted them he should go buy them. Who then immediately went to the Ambush tent and tried on the White with Violet Iridium Holbrook and made the purchase.

It was another successful wake event on and off the water for Oakley, Ambush and the Pro Wakeboard Tour. Stay tuned to see if Harley Clifford will be able to maintain the winning streak at the next stop in Fort Worth, Texas.
