Oakley Wake Dominates Podium in Texas
With the shores of Texas MasterCrafts private lake lined with over a thousand local fans. And the weather reaching almost 100 degrees, this was the place to be. You can get right up close to the action and cheer on your favorite riders. Oakley’s Rolling O Lab was on site featuring HD Polarized Technology and also providing some much needed air conditioning for the fans. The O Lab was in high demand all weekend and showed over 500 people why Oakley’s Plutonite Lenses are superior to the competition.
The wake team wrapped up its first Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Fort Worth, TX with style. By owning the podium with 1st and 2nd place wins in both the men and women’s pro divisions and another win for best trick. The 2008 most improved rider Aaron Rathy took 2nd place with his best run ever in a contest. And Oakley’s newest National Team rider 15-year old Harley Clifford steps up huge in his first Pro Division appearance and takes the win. Harley had this to say about his victory. “I’m just stoked… there are no other words. Making it to the Finals was huge for me, but winning my first U.S. Pro Tour stop is just unreal.”
The women’s heats were equally exciting to watch and came down to wire in the end. With Amber Wing taking 2nd with some new tricks and solid rail riding in her runs. But it was the newest rider on Oakley’s women’s team today that stood above the rest. Nicola Butler was coming of a win at the 50th Masters and had the momentum going into Texas. And didn’t hold back at all by scoring a near perfect 98.50 to solidify the win.
“It was a great weekend for us at Oakley here in Texas. With the Rolling O Lab being on-site for the first time at a Pro Wake Tour event, we really got to show our fans the history and technology of our company,” said Wake Team Coordinator Jack Blodgett. "To make things even better, our athletes had there best finish yet, for the first time ever having the whole team dominate the podium. We are very excited and “it was a great way to start off the season.”
The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour will make its next stop of the season in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., on June 19-21.
