Owning the Wake: Oakley’s Harley Clifford and Amber Wing Land Top Wakeworld Riders Choice Awards
Confirmation: Oakley is the class of the Wakeboard industry.
There’s little doubt that Team Oakley is one heck of a dominant force in the Wake world. With piles of recognition already coming in from the recent Transworld Wake Awards in Orlando, there’s no better way to top off an amazing season than with the fans voting Oakley Team Riders into the spotlight with regards to popularity and ‘best rider’ status.
That’s exactly what happened at the 2010 Wakeworld Riders Choice Awards.
Shooting to the very top, young Oakley phenom Harley Clifford proved yet again why he is an enormous part of Wakeboarding’s future – as he was proclaimed the Top Male Wakeboarder. He’s the first Aussie to take the award with the win this year…and it’s probably not his last – as he continues to rip and push the limits during the season.
Fellow Aussie and Oakley teammate Amber Wing, being the first female to land the 900, rocketed into recognition as the Top Female Wakeboarder. An Oakley/Australian sweep indeed.
But although Harley and Amber took the top spots, fellow Oakley riders had strong showings in the overall standings (including Wakeskate).
