Team Wakeboard Ripper Dominik Gührs of Germany threw down all year long in 2011…enough to realize his dream of being crowned the WWA World Championship after a killer showing in Abu Dhabi early December.

Oakley’s incredible team of Wake rippers reaffirmed their dominant presence in the industry at the 2011 Transworld Wake Awards in Orlando recently – racking up major honors and hardware after an all-time year of brilliance across the board.

A typically vibrant celebration at the Surf Expo trade show, the Awards, laced with Oakley branding, went off yet again this year.

All on the heels of a clean King of Wake Series sweep – with Young Star Harley Clifford claiming the men’s crown and fellow Aussie Amber Wing grabbing the Women’s Title.

Add the Junior Pro Tour Title secured by O’s up and coming young rider, Shota Tezuka of Japan, and it’s safe to say that Oakley’s team is poised to continue dominance today and shape the future of the sport tomorrow.

At the final intense stop of the 2011 Pro Wakeboard Tour, the most prominent pros on the Planet collided to vie for victory in Knoxville…and to seal the deal for even bigger honors: The King and Queen of Wake Titles.

Harley Clifford claimed the King of Wake crown, Amber Wing emerged as Queen of Wake and Oakley Japan’s Shota Tezuka claimed his first-ever Jr. Pro Tour title!

Starting with defending Queen of Wake Nicola Butler, who added yet more hardware to her collection by claiming the 2011 World Championship Title this past weekend in Indianapolis.

The English-born ripper faced off against six of the Planet’s best riders in a six-woman final for top honors – including fellow Oakley rider Amber Wing, who was coming off five straight wins in the Queen of Wake series.

But after two unfortunate falls from Amber in her final run, Nicola emerged at the top of the podium following a monster run – laced with a Moby Dick and a Roll to Blind for a big 91.67 score. This was her third World Title in four years.

Our very own Aussie phenom Harley Clifford lead the way by claiming his second consecutive Wakeboard National Championship, edging out Phil Soven for the contest and overtaking him for the King of Wake Series lead.

On the prettier side of the sport, O ripper Amber Wing managed to topple defending National Champ and fellow Oakley rider Nicola Butler for this year’s honor – and an even bigger advantage in the Queen of Wake standings.

Oakley Japan’s Shota Tezuka – a bone fide talent in every respect – scooped up a commanding 81.67 score for the Division Championship.

Oakley’s Australian ripper extended her championship standings lead to 100 points after claiming victory at the Pro Wakeboard Tour Stop in Monroe, Wash. – displaying her continued dominance this season over a talent-packed field that includes the likes of fellow Oakley rider and defending Queen of Wake Nicola Butler.

“I was super nervous about finals today,” Amber said, rocking her Oakley gear and eyewear. “I really want to be the overall winner, and as the season gets closer to the end, the more the pressure builds up.”

Oakley’s Aussie Wakeboard Star has been rampaging through the Queen of Wake series this year – racking up wins everywhere. More importantly, she dominates…beautifully. In other words, she looks good while she does it – just like every Oakley girl.

Oakley Women’s Wake Star continued her rampage through the Tour on her quest for another Queen of Wake Title, plowing through a talented field at PWT Stop Number Three in Colorado Spring, Colorado.

As the raging winds died down and sunlight broke through, fans flocked to the shoreline to watch Amber and fellow Oakley riders throw down through multiple divisions.

Case in point: Oakley Wake Team Star Amber Wing, whose 66.77 score topped fellow O Team Ripper Nicola Butler to take command of the Pro Women’s Queen of Wake point standings (290 points).

“I thought Nicola had it; I was cheering for her,” Amber said, rocking her Oakley gear and eyewear. “But I did my run, stood up both my passes and came out on top. I’m really pumped to win this tour stop.”

In the Pro Men’s Division, O’s young phenom Harley Clifford threw down as always amidst a talent-packed heat in the finals – including fellow Oakley rider and rail master Oli Derome. Harley’s 95.00 score after a killer run seemed to have seal the deal. But the former King of Wake Points Leader was edged by Phil Soven, whose 95.50 narrowly took the victory.

Hordes of Wake fans packed the shores of Lake Allatoona at Dallas Landing Park today to catch the final rounds of action at the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Acworth, Ga. On the heels of a season-opening victory at Wakegames, Oakley’s young star Harley Clifford dominated the Pro Men’s field – while O’s young Japanese up and comer Shota Tezuka grabbed the victory in the Jr. Pro Men Division.

The final day in Acworth saw the field of 20 riders narrow down to six for the last round of action. But none were any match for O’s Aussie phenom.

Claiming bold victories in both the Men’s and Women’s Wakeboard contests at the Wake Games in Orlando is a pretty damn good sign.

Oakley’s young phenom Harley Clifford, who hauled in a boatload of recognition and hardware last season, came out of the gates on fire this year as he grabbed a resounding win in the Men’s Pro Division following a solid first run in the finals – all in his new technologically advanced boardshorts, the Blade 2. Fellow Aussie and Oakley Team Rider Amber Wing snatched her own victory in the Women’s Pro Division to place the Big O atop the field.

Signaling Oakley’s commitment to growing the sport of Wakeboarding – and our celebration of the Oakley store in Cancun – Team Stars Aaron Rathy and Oli Derome headed south of the border to throw down during a dazzling demonstration for the masses.

The two rippers, easily amongst the very best on the Planet, headed to Mexico for a weekend trip to spread the stoke and share their skills with the local groms/grassroots athletes through private clinics.

In celebration of the sport and the new Oakley Store in Cancun, Oakley Team Stars Oli Derome and Aaron Rathy are set to throw down during a dazzling demonstration for the masses.

The two rippers, easily amongst the very best on the Planet, kick off the rippage today (April 20).
