Oakley's Tereza Macel And Dede Griesbauer Take 1, 2 In Brazil

Tereza

Oakley’s Tereza Macel, wearing light blue custom radar, won the Ironman in Florianopolis, Brazil last weekend. Oakley’s Dede Griesbauer took second.

Griesbauer led the women out of the water with a 45:49 swim, while Macel had an uncharacteristically slow swim.

In the bike Macel was able to catch up and the two came together around 40 kilometers into the ride.

Coming into the transition together, Griesbauer made it out on the marathon a full minute ahead of Macel. Macel was content to let Griesbauer have the lead, as she didn’t want to take out the run too hard early or have the pressure of holding the lead in a tight race.

Griesbauer struggled with the hills during the run and that is when Macel made her move. Macel’s run time of 3:26:36 proved to be the deciding factor, She took the win in a time of 9:19:13 – a tactical race executed to perfection.

Griesbauer finished second in a time of 9:26:29. Oakley’s Hillary Biscay and Donna Phelan finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
