Oakley's Lolo Jones Wins 100 Meter Hurdle At The Diamond League Meet

Oakley’s American runner, twice indoor champion and favorite Lolo Jones won the women’s 100 meter hurdle in 12.63 Friday at the inaugural Diamond League meet.

Jones had a slow start and clipped the first two hurdles before making an excellent recovery and taking control of the race, beating Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Canada by .04 seconds.

“I hit two hurdles, so midway through the race I said there is no way I’ll win,” Jones said. “Then I started pulling things together. I was completely shocked I won. That I was able to get back in control, I was really proud of myself.”

“After the fourth and fifth hurdles I put my arms tight and decided to give a fight. OK with the time as the wind was not helpful but I need to work on my start,” added an ecstatic Jones, who celebrated her win by throwing her Oakley shades into the crowd.

The Doha meet is the first of 14 around the world in the Diamond League, which is the successor to the Golden League.
