The last grand slam of the year, the US Open has closed the books on Day 1 here in Flushing Meadows, NY with some very memorable moments. Oakley had several players on the courts at the USTA Tennis Center representing the brand.

“Day 1 of the US Open was a productive start for Oakley,” said Tennis Sports Marketing Manger, Pat Cairns.

“The number 15 seed, Samantha Stosur wearing OCP Enduring with blue frames, white socks and G30 Edge lens, had a very tough opening round draw against Ai Sugiyama. The match was a slugfest of ground strokes, but Sam was able to pull off a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win, earning her a spot in Round Two.”

In addition to Sam’s big win, Oakley scored another huge victory at the end of the day on Court 11 with Kirsten Flipkens from Belgium. Kirsten wears Rx Oakley eyewear, primarily Half Jacket because the frame fits better on the petite Belgian’s face.

Flipken’s was up against former Top 5 WTA Player Jelena Dokic in the setting sun of New York. Wearing her carbon fiber framed Rx Half Jacket’s into the twilight hours, Kirsten never let Dokic into the match and stormed to a 6-4, 6-4 win under the evening lights of the Tennis Center.
