Bio

Laura’s competitive nature is as tough as it comes. Laura is fearless and attacks rails most guys would walk away from. Her style is aggressive and clean and park is no doubt where she belongs. Laura has been snowboarding only a short time compared to her competition but is being recognized as one of the top up coming female riders in the world.

Laura is an individual in everything she does. She has a very unique style and is more influenced my music and art than by her peers. She is opinionated in politics but holds an open mind in travel and the differences in the world. She won’t be swayed and will rarely compromise but she offers loyal friendship to those around her.

Q&A

  • If someone was to write a book about you, what would be the title? P lease and Thank you; asking for what you need and want, and appreciating everything you’ve got and been given. An autobiography.
  • What fears do you have? How do you deal with them? I fear that I won’t do what I want to outside of snowboarding. There are so many other things that I want to pursue and get into, and I feel constantly I don’t just dive into those things like I did snowboarding. I fear that I won’t be find something bigger than snowboarding and I guess, I just try and take small steps toward breaking that fear. Taking classes at community college. Getting into art and bussiness classes. Stuff like that.
  • What made you start your sport and why? I tried most of the other sports starting at age 7. I went through ice skating, Trapez, gymnastics, and soccer. I skied my whole life, but I never fell in love until I snowboarded. I tried it because I thought maybe it would be fun, and these two boys taught me. Right away I was hooked, and I could tell the other girls who snowboarded in my class didn’t really get it like I did. It was a way for me to expand my friendships with a lot of people and it was a place where I was always pushing boundries. I loved it.
  • What interests do you have other than snowboarding/skiing and why? Being an entrepreneur. Being an artist. Making films. Body healing techniques. Healthy good food. People around the world, and the different ways of living.
  • What are you passionate about and why? My family my friends. My boyfriend. Photography, films, street fashion. Because all of that makes us who we are.
  • What makes you different than other girls or just unique? I actually strive to be unique and think outside of the box. And I think a lot of girls see only right in front of them.
  • From who or what and how did they influence you going forward? I can’t think of a great sign of received in life. Its more a decision to do something and looking at all the small stuff that falls into place I think. Some stuff was just meant to be. But I can’t say any of it was a sign to me. I believe it is the way it is spuss to be. And there are hard times and good times, and that’s life. It is what you make it.
  • Who is the most influential person in your life and why? Me. because without my own drive I wouldn’t be doing shit. I would have given up my dreams a long time ago, and I wouldn’t be where I am today.
  • What are the 3 biggest things you learned from your parents? Be sure you want to get married and if you have kids make it work. Nothing gets put on your plate that you can’t handle. Open up, ask for help, and let yourself learn from your past mistakes.
  • Tell me a little about your best friend. Why are they your best friend and how are you alike and different from each other? I think that its hard to decided who is my best friend right now. 1st there is my sister. She is from my blood, so we have a lot in common. We can be real lazy bastards sometimes when we are together. But we both hold the same values with good food and what involves a fun time. She is different than me because she worries more I think. Being one of the middle children in our family made her the peace maker. But that position puts a lot of stress on yourself. And I think that she inflicts stress about other peoples issues more than I ever have, I think I am more carefree and able to let everyone have their shit and not really get into it. But I’m good at letting her let go of everything she holds onto. I calm her down. And I’m gonna be her maid of honor at her wedding in June and I just can’t wait. It will be really fun. 2nd is my boyfriend. He is like me in that we love the same things, good style, the outdoors, achieving our goals, striving to be original and creative and very personable to strangers and friends alike. I think the differences of him is that he can be more worried about the details and logistics of stuff, where I will rather let it just be. And 3rd is my friend Izzy. She is as free as a bird from everything that would seem to hold a person down. She lives by the seat of her pants and has a soul as bright as the sun. She is a dreamer where as I am more of a realist. All three of these people mean more than words could describe to me. They are the three smartest people I have ever met and having them in my life is why I am happy.
  • What are your most fond childhood memories? I remember when I was really little like 5 and below, me and my best friend, who was the same age, would hang out every day, either at her house or mine. Everyday we would eat ramen noodles, saltine crackers and milk. We had our own plastic bowls that I think my mom still uses for camping. Anyways, it was our comfort and entertainment food and I remember always having a good time while eating it. I loved it.
  • What do you hold the most valuable to you in life? My family and my friends first and foremost. Good healthy food and someone to love.
  • What are the greatest hurdles you have had to overcome in life? Broken up family. Problem childhoods and not very many examples of success through out my family.
  • What is the greatest thing you have taught somebody else? I think that I have taught my mom that anything is possible. She was the one who was always pushing me to keep up with whatever I was doing, but I don’t think she ever thought that I would experience all the stuff I have.
  • What are the things that inspire you? People. Learning. Nature. Friends. Family. I see myself in the reflection of the eyes of every person I meet. I understand where they are and where I am and thus, see my position in the world. I am truly inspired by learning because thru learning your grip on the world is rendered.
