They’re calling it ‘Tour de Crash.’

The first week of the prominent Tour de France has been more than insane – laced with dramatic crashes and intense action. From rider collisions with fans on the road, cyclists flying off into ditches to a media car clipping Juan Antonio Flecha and sending another rider into a barbed wire fence, this year’s race has been more than brutal. But one thing’s for certain…Oakley Cyclists are displaying their intentions to dominate.

O’s Norwegian Star Thor Hushovd came out of the gates on fire – holding the coveted Yellow Jersey with the overall lead for a solid eight days. Stage nine saw him hand over the jersey on the slopes of the Massif Central. But up to that point, he did just enough to top the standings.

And his fellow Oakley Riders were up there with him.

Five overall Stage Victories marked the first wave of the Tour for the O – with Mark Cavendish grabbing headlines after some impressive performances and trademark sprinting. Cadel Evans joined the party with his own Stage 4 win after holding off defending champ Alberto Contador.

But even more impressive: Oakley Riders dominated the Top 10 spots in the General Classification until Stage 9. When Stage 7 came around, six of the top seven riders were rocking the O.

As the riders cruise into a much-needed rest day, the overall standings are still graced with Oakley athletes – with Cadel Evans leading the way in the third spot – followed by O stars Frank and Andy Schleck from Team Leopard Trek.

Despite some serious blows to the field, with O’s Bradley Wiggins and Chris Horner exiting the field after some bad crashes, Oakley riders are still poised to challenge for the overall victory. Keep your eye on The Big O as the Tour de France rages on.
