2010 Tour de France Stage 3 Recap: Thor Wins & Fabian Takes Back Yellow
On another day of exciting bike racing that saw several big-name riders crash on the dreaded pavé, or cobblestones, that pepper the Paris-Roubaix course, Hushovd (Oakley BMX Chrome Radar), the Norwegian national champion, was able to increase his advantage over Mark Cavendish in the points classification competition following Monday’s ‘neutralized’ closing sprint.
Additionally, Fabian Cancellara took back the yellow Jersey, after losing for just one day. On the podium Fabian was wearing the elite series Oakley C-6 sunglass.
Earlier in the day Oakley’s Frank Schleck, the elder brother and Saxo Bank teammate of Andy Schleck crashed on the cobbles and is unlikely to make the starting line on Wednesday due to a broken collarbone.
Other casualties on the day included Oakley Legend, Lance Armstrong who punctured his tire while riding the gutter at the end of Stage 3, but was able to finish just one minute off the lead of Thor.
Oakley’s Geraint Thomas, the new British national road race champion, however, enjoyed a good ride after the Welshman finished second to propel him to the leader in the young riders classification.
This gives Oakley two stage victories in the first four days and a second yellow jersey.
