Bio

Carlos Sastre Candil is a Spanish professional road bicycle racer and champion of the 2008 Tour de France. His dramatic solo attack on l’Alpe d’Huez sprung him forever clear of the role of super domestique and into the rarified orbit of Tour winners. Sastre was always close – seven top-five overall finishes on the Tour and Vuelta a Espana throughout his career. His attack on l’Alpe d’Huez will be remembered as one of the most lethal and effective in recent Tour history.

In 2009, Sastre took third overall in the Giro ‘d Italia and won stage 16 and stage 19. He is known as a strong and stable climbing specialist. Look for the Cervelo Test Team rider at the front of the pack on the hardest climbs at the upcoming 2010 Tour de France.
