If it wasn’t the winning SuperPipe run at Winter X Games 15 that sent electric currents through the icy air, it was Kevin Pearce.

Oakley’s recovering Snowboard Star, who sustained major injuries during an accident in December 2009 while training for the Winter Olympics, appeared at Winter X at the bottom of the Pipe – stoking cheers from the inspired snow fans in the crowd.

His story of hope, resilience and spirit in the face of disaster still inspires. So much so that Outside Magazine included a major feature in their June 2011 issue. The magazine – which features content for enthusiasts of various outdoor activities including running, skiing, camping, rockclimbing, rafting, hang-gliding and more – included a seven-page feature entitled “Some Re-assembly Required” focused on Kevin’s accident in December 2009 and his journey through recovery. The story also included five prominent color images of Kevin, one color image of Kevin and his family and one color image of Kevin on snow.

Be sure to look out for the June issue of Outside Magazine.
