Bio

Whether it’s his accolade winning film segments, his popular Oakley Pro Rider Series outerwear or heavily trafficked website, all of Eero Ettala’s assets are of the highest quality.

Ettala has won X-Games gold, Freestyle.CH, best trick at Air & Style, Jibber of the Year, Best Video Part of the Year, numerous Big Air events and appeared on more than 20 cover shots. But he says his biggest accomplishment was inventing the double BS Rodeo 1080.

The phenom from Helsinki, Finland has a progressive style that never wavers, even when he’s throwing 1260s and triple backflips. The guy is a freestyle machine with a long list of tricks. He attributes his precision landing to Finland’s icy, non-forgiving terrain.

Though he has what it takes to compete, he prefers hunting for deep snow and elusive urban jibs. Ettala draws inspiration from skateboarding and the kid fans, who seem to pop up wherever he’s riding. He stays motivated by always seeking to progress a sport that’s given him so much.

Over the winter of ‘08-‘09, Ettala opted to film his very own TV series instead of a traditional film segment. He traveled the world, meeting up with Eiki Helgason, Kevin Pearce, Torstein Horgmo, Danny Kass and others. “Tracking Eero” premiered on FUEL TV.

Ettala had a winter on the sidelines last year after overshooting a BS 180 and suffering his third knee injury. Post ACL surgery, Ettala embraced the downtown again realized how important snowboarding is to his life. After a summer of rehab, cycling, swimming and hitting the gym and a fall of surfing and skating, Ettala says he’s ready.

Ettala will be filming urban in Finland, spending more time riding in America and hopefully putting together a Japan trip (where’s he’s been known to throw down precision double backflips in the trees)

Eero works to bring street style to Oakley’s technical apparel. He also has a Nitro pro model that’s evolved over the years just as his riding has.
