Galerie der Schneebrillen
On October 24th, Oakley Germany hosted “Galerie der Schneebrillen” (Goggle Gallery) in the Munich Planentarium.
As media representatives, athletes, VIPs and friends entered the foyer of the planetarium, they were welcomed by Oakley riders and a gallery of images of Oakley athletes such as Terje Haakonsen, Tanner Hall and Anne-Flore Marxer posing with their Oakley signature goggles created by artists of the book “Art of Modern Rock.”
Eyewear and goggles brand manager Axel Brosch presented Oakley’s high-tech goggle features and patented technologies to the crowd. Images of Oakley’s impact tests with competitors’ products amazed and shocked the audience. Axel was joined by German Oakley riders Silvia Mittermüller and Marco Smolla who talked about their experiences with undistorted vision and eye protection on snow. Silvia told the audience that she had once had an eye laser surgery and was told not to expose herself to snowboarding for some time after her surgery. Silvia’s trust in Oakley eyewear was so strong that she went snowboarding sooner rather than later and her eyes were fine thanks to Oakley’s goggle technology.
In the days leading up to the goggle event, Oakley’s women snowboard team members Silvia Mittermüller (GER), Gretchen Bleiler (USA) and Anne-Flore Marxer (CUI) were busy doing interviews and photo shoots with national and international media in Munich. Women’s team manager Liesel Holz brought the girls on stage during the goggle event and the girls talked about women’s snowboarding in general, the great opportunities and products they have had through Oakley and where they think female snowboarding is headed. The next day, they were off to Austria to coach at the Oakley Women’s Snowboard Camp at the Hintertux glacier.
