Snowboarding Earns Historic Market Shares On Norwegian TV

For the first time snowboarding gets the highest market share in the 12 to 19 age group compared to all other winter sports being aired the same day. During the The Oakley Arctic Challenge (TAC) finals on Sunday, snowboarding had the lowest market share of all sports in 40+ age group,
but highest in the 12 to 19.

In one of the most heated slopestyle contests of the year, Norway’s two homegrown talents Torstein Horgmo and Mikkel Bang took second and third at the 2010 Oakley Arctic Challenge. The day started off slowly as the milky skies of Oslo began to open up as the crowd poured into the arena.

What a showdown at the first TAC slopestyle since 2003. Top 20 riders from the TTR ranking (excpet the injured Seb Toots and Ipod) are confirmed. Furthermore, top 6 from the X Games slopestyle finals and top 8 from the overall Dew Tour ranking are heading for Norway.

Three wild cards for TTR 6str The Oakley Arctic Challenge were at stake at the SWAG MAX IT slopestyle, and a bunch of the most talented Norwegian riders headed to Vierli to compete for the wild cards.

Sondre Tiller who was a rookie at The Oakley Arctic Challenge 2003, won the TTR 2str SWAG MAX IT slopestyle in Vierli this weekend, and thereby qualified for TTR 6str The Oakley Arctic Challenge, together with Ulrik Badertscher and Joachim Krogstie.

The SWAG MAXIT slopestyle goes down in Vierli, Norway, the same terrain that Terje did his first turns, on November 21st. This is an open event and the top three qualify for The Oakley Arctic Challenge!

The park in Vierli has developed immensely the last few years and the place is ready to welcome hungry riders with new bags of tricks.

SWAG MAXIT is part of the Evovler Tour and is a TTR 2str event.

10 Riders Confirmed At The 2010 Oakley Arctic Challenge

The snowboard community is gathering in Oslo on New Years.

The Oakley Arctic Challenge is pleased to announce our first ten confirmed riders for the 2010 event. These ten riders are some of the best all-around snowboards in the world hailing from Europe, Scandinavia, Canada and the US: Andreas Ygre Wiig, Torstein Horgmo, Mikkel Bang, Eero Ettala, Antti Autti, Peetu Piiroinen, Charles Reid, Sebastiant Toutant, Jake Blauvelt and Chas Guldemond.

TAC Announces 2010 Event And Prize Money

As TAC is expanding with slopestyle this season, the prize money is increasing to $120,000 dollars. 24 riders will be exclusively invited with all local costs covered. Additional 16 riders will be invited to fill up the action.
