The films will take audiences on outdoor adventures and cultural journeys throughout many countries of the world including France, Indonesia, Australia, Peru, Cost Rica, South Africa and Mexico.

The 2006 Action Sport Film Series is presented by Oakley, a world brand, driven to ignite the imagination through the fusion of art and science. Building on its legacy of innovative, market-leading premium sunglasses, the company also offers an expanding line of premium performance footwear, apparel, accessories, watches and prescription eyewear to consumers in more than 100 countries. "Oakley is proud to partner with the Newport Beach Film Festival and bring to Orange County some of the world’s best action sports performances ever captured on film. This is a great venue to also showcase our second effort from 1242 Productions," stated Patrick McIlvain, Oakley’s Director of Global Sports Marketing.

On Friday April 21st at 8:30pm, the Festival and Oakley will host the Action Sports Spotlight screening of the surf movie, "Separate Volume," written and directed by Matt Goodman. The film features surfers Dustin Barca, Chris Ward, Brian Conley, Nathan Fletcher, Brent Dorrington, Adam Melling and others. Filmed at exotic locations around the globe, the film highlights each surfer’s unique approach to a wave and celebrates the individual character of each athlete. The film will screen at the Regency Lido Theater, located at 3459 Via Lido Drive in Newport Beach. Following the screening, Oakley will host a reception at the Orange County Museum of Art. The celebration will feature live entertainment, a hosted bar, and take home bags provided by Squeeze OC.
