Greg Emslie (East London, South Africa) secured his best career result, and the best result for a South African on the Surfing World Tour in decades by reaching the finals and taking second place in the Quiksilver Pro in Hossegor, France today. Due to small conditions the contest relocated to Les Bourdaines where the final was held in 2-3ft waves. Emslie defeated Joel Parkinson (Aus) in the first Semifinal of the afternoon and went on to face current Fosters ASP World Tour ratings leader Mick Fanning (Aus) in the final. Spectators were within arms reach as they finished their rides when Emslie finished second pocketing US$18 000 and 1032 valuable points towards requalification for the 2008 ASP World Tour.

The Quiksilver Pro is the seventh event of ten on the Fosters ASP World Tour and features the top 45 surfers in the world. Australian Joel Parkinson is the defending champion.
