Oakley's Marc Lacomare is the 2009 European Pro Junior Champion
19 year-old Oakley surfer Marc Lacomare from Hossegor, France, clinched his maiden ASP European Pro Junior title at the last contest of the season in the Canaries. Marc, who went into the Tenerife Pro Junior as the rating’s leader, took out the title after Jatyr Berasaluce, his only rival for the crown, suffered an early elimination in round three.
“The title wasn’t done for me even if I was in the lead before Tenerife,” Lacomare said. “I was really focused on my heats and did not really think about the title. I am just over the moon right now. I’ve had a long year competing on both ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) and Pro Junior events. I had an injury in June and July and I got back to competition to focus on the junior series, and it finishes perfectly with that title.”
Marc, who won two Pro Junior events in Europe this season (Portugal and Hossegor) also secured himself a spot at the ASP World Junior Championships in Narrabeen, Australia (January 2010), an event where he finished third last year.
And the good news continue: Due to his consistent performances throughout the year and because he finished runner-up to Dusty Payne in 2009, Marc just received confirmation of a wildcard to the Oakley Global Challenge held in Bali in October (7th to 17th of October).
