One of the four stops of The Oakley Big Day Out Surf series got under way in Honolulu, Hawaii. More than 150 competitors were signed up and amped to surf the long awaited Oakley Big Day Out contest.
The weekend of Sunday, August 6 proved to be a momentous time for South African surfing, with Oakley team surfers Royden Bryson (East London) and David Weare (Umhlanga) winning top rated ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) events at opposite ends of the globe.
In success of the Oakley Pro Junior 2005, Oakley has signed for the next 3 years of the junior contest, which is part of the oldest surf competition in Europe. It took place this year from August 11th to 13th in Sooruz, Lacanau France.
