Australia’s Sam Wrench wins the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge Final 2009 in Bali
Sam Wrench today won the prestigious Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge 2009
final in excellent five-foot surf at Keramas River-mouth in Bali, defeating
French surfer and 2008 Global Challenge runner-up Marc Lacomare.This victory netted Wrench $US20 000, the biggest prize purse in World
Professional Pro Junior surfing. The unsponsored surfer entered the Bali
event through an alternate ticket made available by fellow countryman Owen
Wright, who pulled out of the event in order to pursue WQS points.

One Finalist Decided As Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge Runs Early At Keramas
Remaining surfers competing in the Oakley Pro Junior Challenge Final for 2009 made their way to Keramas River-mouth in Bali early this morning to run three superb heats on prime high-tide conditions.
With a solid six-foot plus swell and ideal winds, today’s heats saw surfers committing to massive on-face maneuvers with semi-final and one final positions being decided.

Oakley’s Adriano de Souza,22, claimed his inaugural ASP World Tour win today, taking out the Billabong Pro Mundaka, eliminating fellow Finalist Chris Davidson (AUS), 33, in punchy two-to-three foot waves at the backup venue of Sopelana. Stop No. 8 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Mundaka experienced an array of conditions for the event, from clean surf on the opening day at Mundaka to a lengthy seven-day wait before a marathon 24-heat session yesterday, culminating into today’s dramatic final.
