Brazil is simply full of talented rippers. That’s why it was more than a surprise to Kolohe “Brother” Andino when it was he and fellow American Tanner Gudauskas left in the final of the ASP World 6-Star SuperSurf Internacional in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Kolohe emerged victorious with his 14.33 heat-wave total, earning him a massive 3,500 points in the World Ranking. “I’m so stoked,” Kolohe said, sporting his Oakley Frogskin eyewear. “I thought that I could reach the Quarterfinals here, but I never imagined that I would win the event! Unfortunately, conditions today (Saturday) made things really difficult and I think I was lucky to have caught some good waves. In the Final, I started off well and then I just used my strategy to hold on for the win since there weren’t too many good waves.”

Kolohe “Brother” Andino is on a mission. Judging by his early season smack down at events like the Vans Pier Classic and the Vans Pro Junior in Huntington Beach, it’s safe to say that Oakley’s young California phenom is on track to challenge for the ASP North American Junior Series Title. The San Clemente ripper employed a killer combination of ultra progressive surfing and massive amounts of stamina to claim the ASP 4-star Pier Classic and Pro Junior. Going head-to-head with some of the best on the Planet, he emerged from the finals on top – pulling in a whopping $16,000 with his two wins and secured 1,000 One World Ranking points – proving fully that he’s able to throw down against the top pros in the industry in pressurized situations.
