Bio

Fourth French surfer ever to reach the lofty heights of the prestigious ASP World Tour, Tim Boal secured his inception after an impressive roll of results in the summer European leg of the 2008 ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) including a win at the ASP WQS 5-Star Rip Curl Pro Zarautz. Boal, who spent three years on the Grind sharpening his heat tactics and surfing skills, got close to eliminating Slater at the Quiksilver Pro France after winning a wildcard in the event and impressed the ASP judges with his smart approach.

Born and raised on the Mediterranean coast of France, the Frenchman from Anglet in the French Basque Country is coming from a brilliant ASP Pro Junior career where he peaked with a runner-up finish in 2004, before coming all the way up to No. 11 on the ASP WQS ratings.

A keen waterman, Boal grew up on sailboats and spent all the time he had surfing, swimming and body boarding. While his sailing ability resulted in winning two French National Championships in the Optimist class, surfing stayed his real passion.
