Oakley Pro Bali Crowns Joel Parkinson Event Champion
Surfing has been deeply entrenched in Oakley’s heritage since the mid 1980’s and this month in Bali we solidified a new legacy with the inaugural Oakley Pro Bali – the second Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Championship Tour (WCT) event to take place in Indonesia in tour history.
The event witnessed dreamlike conditions at Keramas, arguably one of the most high performance reefbreaks in the world, next level surfing and more than a few groundbreaking moments.
From the aerial “heard around the world,” by John John Florence to Parko’s perfect 20-point heat and witnessing the first time an Indonesian surfer won a WCT heat there was hardly a dull moment during all six days of the event.
Finals Day was a true crescendo from the first quarterfinal through the dying moments of the final, which culminated in the crowning of reigning ASP World Champion Joel “Parko” Parkinson the inaugural Oakley Pro Bali Champion.
