    This past week, Adriano and some of the older generation shone the spotlight a bit brighter their way. On his way to a third-place finish at the Hurley Pro at Lower Trestles in Southern California, Adriano took down the two most talented ‘young guys’ on Tour in Gabriel Medina and John John Florence.

    Leaving behind the beachbreaks of Ballito, Sebastian “Seabass” Zietz, Eric Geiselman, Adriano de Souza and crew head south to score perfect pointbreak waves at “Supertubes” at Jeffrey’s Bay. In-between freesurfs and competing in the 2012 Billabong Pro Jeffrey’s Bay, the boys venture off on a true African experience – mingling with zebras and lions at the Seaview Lion Park. The interactions become a bit too close and personal, but everyone escapes with all of their fingers and toes intact.

    South Africans have been faring well at their ‘home break’ the past couple years at Billabong Pro J-Bay. But this year, a full on International free-for-all unfolded. It was Oakley’s Brazilian Bomber, Adriano Souza, however – who’d top the talent stacked field with an impressive 16.00 Final Heat score over Frenchman Joan Duru. Riding a set right over the rocks – snapping one of his fins out – our ASP World No. 4 pocketed US $25,000 for his triumph over a list of riders through the final four rounds that represented Brazil, Australia, Spain, Hawaii, California, France, South Africa and Portugal.
