    Florida scores summertime mini swell and it couldn’t have come at a better time!!! Thirty-two impressive and energetic young surf girls joined myself, Kira Sheppard and fellow surf girl friends in our first ever Kira Signature Surf Camp presented by Oakley and Ron Jon Surf Shop.

    Nat Young’s cool under pressure: It’s not that rad to need an 8 to beat Granger Larsen in the Open Mens final, especially when you already got a 9. That’s because Granger is gnarly. He’s been the man to beat all contest and he’s posted two 8.5’s. But when Nat Young took off on a set, with a few minutes remaining, he went into a succession of backhand hacks that earned him a come from behind win in the most prestigious amateur contest in the country.

    Julian Wilson (Coolum, AUS) proved to be the form surfer of the day, claiming victory at ASP Grade-4 Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure pres. by Jack’s Surfboards, in improved two-to-three foot (1 metre) peaky conditions over Stuart Kennedy (Lennox Head AUS), Chris Salisbury (Newport, AUS) and Andrew Doheny (Newport Beach, CA).
