This year “Global Media Week” is taking place in the Lower East Side (LES) of Manhattan, NY.

    De Souza, former ASP World Junior Champion and into his first Final ever in an ASP World Tour event, placed second at Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast at Snapper Rocks, arguably the biggest and most publicized surf contest in the world.

    The world’s best surfers congregated at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre last night for the ASP World Champions’ Crowning where Oakley’s Adriano de Souza and Kai Barger were recognized for their efforts in 2008.

    Oakley’s Julian Wilson (AUS), 20, caused the upset of the season by eliminating reigning nine-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 37, from competition during Round 3 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast at Snapper Rocks.

    Oakley’s Nat Young, Balaram Stack, Connor Coffin, Evan Geiselman, Ian Crane, Colin Moran and Lani Doherty will join the 2009 PacSun USA Surf Team travel roster that will compete at the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Ecuador from March 28-April 5.
