    Field of 18 Top Juniors to Vie for the Richest Prize Purse in Junior Surfing ($75K Total; $20K for First Place) Four wildcards have been announced for the second annual Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge in Bali, Indonesia, October 7-17, 2009. The final showdown event, the culmination of a six-event international qualifying series, offers the richest prize purse for junior men, $75,000 total and $20,000 for first place. A small field of 18 of the world’s best juniors will compete in a man-on-man World Tour-style format over four days of competition during a 10-day holding period.

    Bruce Irons is a one of kind individual on many different levels, so what better way to roll into Oakley Week then in the Oakley Tank. Fresh off a flight from Hawaii, Bruce jumped in the tank and took over the motorcross track by manning the gun. After taking down several employees and cameramen, Irons found his way to the front entrance of Oakley.

    Five regional champs from across the nation—Heritage from the Northeast, SurfRide from the Southwest, T & C from Hawaii, Freeline from the Northwest, and Sunrise from the Southeast—converged early Monday morning to be greeted by clean, overhead sets on the South side of Huntington Pier for the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge Championships fueled by Muscle Milk. And though the 2008 Surf Shop Challenge National Champs, SurfRide, came ready to take their second consecutive victory, it was the 2006 National Champs, Sunrise Surf Shop from Jacksonville Beach, Florida who would eventually take the title back to the East Coast.

  • Oakley's Marc Lacomare is the 2009 European Pro Junior Champion

    19 year-old Oakley surfer Marc Lacomare from Hossegor, France, clinched his maiden ASP European Pro Junior title at the last contest of the season in the Canaries. Marc, who went into the Tenerife Pro Junior as the rating’s leader, took out the title after Jatyr Berasaluce, his only rival for the crown, suffered an early elimination in round three.

    Last weekend Oakley supported Coastal Edge, a 9-door Surf & Skate retail chain, in sponsoring the 47th annual East Coast Surfing Championships held in Virginia Beach. Tropical storm Daniel spun its way right off the mid-Atlantic coast, providing fun surf for the top pros and amateurs.There were rippable chest-to-head high waves for the first three days. On the final day, the surf dropped to a challenging knee-to-waist high making the surfers work for each and every point possible.
