X Trail Cup Tokyo
40 riders competed for the title of the 11th annual Wakeboard World Series J-Round X-Trial Cup presented by Nissan. It was the first stop of the WWA World Series, held last weekend in Tokyo Japan. With an estimated 70,000 people in attendance over the weekend, fans enjoyed the calm water conditions.
Oakley team rider, Andrew Adkison has won the event the last two years in a row, although he came up just short of his first three-peat placing second in this years event. Adkison rode flawless all weekend but was edged out in the finals by Australian Pro Tour Champion Daniel Watkins. The World Series is a 4-event competition, which also includes Boardstock, Wakestock, and the World Championships held in FT Worth Texas. Adkison said, "the event was really fun, the crowd was huge in Japan as was their enthusiasm for wakeboarding." A great start for Adkison in the series, the final scores for the event were:
- Daniel Watkins
- Andrew Adkison
- JD Webb
- Rusty Malinoski
Also on hand at the event was Oakley’s Keith Lyman. Lyman and his new mohawk will be spending the next few weeks touring around Japan doing clinics and exhibitions with liquid force teammate Collin Harrington.
