Shaun White is now a bona fide household name.

This Oakley Team Superstar and Olympic Gold Medalist has truly rocketed to insane heights and recognition this past year.

Transcending his sport, he’s not only one of the best Skate and Snowboard athletes on the Planet, he’s a Global Ambassador for his sport, the center of his own awesome video game and a natural in the bright lights, red carpets and glamour that is the entertainment industry (and the “Chairman of the Board” of Spike TV’s 2010 Guy’s Choice Awards to boot).

But let’s get back to the core of it all. He is where he is because of one indisputable fact: Shaun White is just a ridiculously sick athlete. Throwing down huge, revolutionary new maneuvers not seen in his two sports during contests, he dazzled sports fans everywhere while racking up medals left and right this year.

2010 saw him display his immense versatility with some awesome career highlights:

• The Big One: Gold Medal – Halfpipe – Vancouver Winter Olympics. All with his legendary Double McTwist 1260 that dazzled the world.

• Silver Medal – Summer ESPN X Games 16 – Vert Competition

• Skate: Dew Tour Portland Vert Title

• Skate: Dew Tour Salt Lake City Vert Title

• Skate: Dew Tour Las Vegas (Final) Vert Title

If that wasn’t enough, he teamed with Oakley as a Global Ambassador to introduce an emerging Chinese market to the Snowboarding culture and the stoke that comes with it. Oakley & Shaun White Presents Air + Style Beijing lit the Chinese Olympic city, bringing East and West together in a celebration of sport, music and urban culture in early December.

The partnership between Shaun and Oakley was truly unique to the snowboard world. It was his first step into the contest world as he led the charge into Beijing using our iconic brand and his own global recognition.

With that, a glorious 2010 wrapped up in grand fashion – capping off a period in Shaun’s career that saw him catapult from an awesome athlete to a true sports icon.
