Following in a long line of talented Scandanavian talents, Heikki Sorsa brings his buttery smooth approach to the most basic tricks, huge airs, and his unique approach to ripping the backcountry.

Heikki powered his way onto the snowboarding scene in 2001 when he claimed the world record for the largest air in Oslo, Norway at the Oakley Arctic Challenge by flying 9.3 meters (29 feet) into the air – falling just one foot short of Oakley’s set goal of 30 feet for the Gold Time Bomb watch (valued at $24,000). As a consolation prize, Oakley gave the “Flying Fin” an all-expense-paid, weeklong trip anywhere in the world. Heikki chose Hawaii so he could take some time to enjoy one of his favorite hobbies: surfing.

The following year Heikki again put a huge stamp on the snowboarding map, by ruling the competition leading up to and at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Sporting a Mohawk, big smile, and the pink A-Frame Oakley goggles, Heikki threw down some of the biggest, most stylish airs fans had ever seen.

These days Heikki splits his time between competing and putting together sick film segments with his good friend and fellow Finn, Eero Ettala.
