Oakley/Target Media Night

Oakley celebrated the end of the first official day of Winter X Games 12 by inviting 75 of their closest friends over to the athlete house for some handmade sushi and mingling. The vibe was ultra casual as editors, photographers, riders, Oakley employees and even Gretchen Bleiler’s parents filled the mansion to kick off the weekend.

Attendees got a sneak peak at the much-anticipated Gretchen Bleiler collection, before it’s officially unveiled at the SIA tradeshow in Vegas next week. The custom goggle bar was rocking as usual, with a friendly local female staff hooking everyone up with a custom set-up. Two display cases were lit up as well, showcasing the newest in Oakley eyewear.

Micah, a local chef and friend of the company, prepared handmade rolls for hungry athletes, while friends dived into the self-serve bar.

Eero Ettala and JJ Thomas were on site, as well as Seth Morrison. Jon Olsson was busy reshaping the Big Air jump himself. “I was the only one who held up a shovel,” he said as he rolled in just before midnight tired and hungry. “After hours of digging I think it might be getting close to hit-able.”

Anne-Flore Marxer, Silvia Mittermuller and Marie-France Roy were worked after a day of Slopestyle practice and a poster signing downtown, but they summoned the energy to sing happy birthday to Anne-Flore. Kristi Leskinen even scraped off the freezer burn from an old container of Haagen-Daaz to make an impromptu birthday sundae.

Media and industry guests got the chance to chat with their favorite Oakley athletes, check out the new line and enjoy a Thursday night in one of the coolest pads in Aspen. As the guests funneled out and onto the shuttle to finish out the evening at the Target house, the athletes slinked into their rooms for a good’s night’s sleep.
