So after a week of almost non-stop snow, clouds, fog, rain and ice the skies parted to provide an epic day of sunshine. The result was perhaps one of the best slopestyle contests in X Games history with the highest score in history being broken not once, but twice!

Women's Snowboard Superpipe Finals at European Winter X Games 2

Unlike their counterparts in the ski division, the women’s snowboard slopestyle contest saw the first sunny skies of the competition at 2011 European Winter X Games. This year’s results would prove different as defending champion and top Oakley snowboarder Jenny Jones entered the competition with an injury sustained in practice at the US Open last week. Jones would come in eighth place, but was cheered on wildly by her ever present British fan base at the bottom of the course.

There’s no doubt that the recent earthquake and tsunami devastation in Japan was weighing down on his mind. But Oakley Star Snowboarder Kazu Kokubo charged forward and represented his native country in grand fashion at the US Open Snowboarding Championships in Vermont last week, emerging victorious in the Pipe final with a frontside alley-oop nosebone, front 900, Michaelchuck, frontside double cork 1080, to a Cab 1080 melon. Absolutely sick. But he wasn’t the only Oakley rider on the podiums.

  • Bam! Mark McMorris Throws Down First-Ever Backside Triple Cork 1440

Oakley riders just keep on pushing the envelope. On the heels of what was an insane Winter X 15 that saw O’s Torstein Horgmo stomp the first-ever Triple Cork at the event, fellow O ripper Mark McMorris, fresh off his own medal performance at X, just one upped everyone. Our young Canadian star busted out the first-ever Backside Triple Cork 1440 at Snowmass Park in Colorado. And it’s all on film. Check it!
