New King: Sean Pettit Owns Linecatcher in Vars, France
Sean Pettit was barely short of the victory last year.
But this year, Oakley’s Canadian Ski Star made sure that the backcountry in Vars was thoroughly slain with a double cliff drop at the top of his run, before hitting one of the ten shaped kickers on the course to spin a technical cork 7 – and finishing with a huge 360 off a natural feature. The result was a resounding victory at the third edition of Red Bull Linecatcher and Sean’s new coronation.
Nabbing a super solid 9.5 out of 10 from the judges early on, Sean was already poised to finish on top. But there were two more runs to follow, and after falling on his second, he gained an even higher score of 9.7 after busting out a 360 between the two cliffs at the start, followed by a misty 720 and a backflip.
“It was a very close match,” said Sean, rockin’ his Oakley gear. “I really went for it on my last run as I knew I wasn’t safe! These were a lot of top riders today…I just tried to subside all the pressure and have a good time, and that’s exactly what I did."
