Mikaela Shiffrin hails from Vail, Colorado and is now a standout American alpine skier. She made a name for herself with a spectacular breakthrough in front of a home crowd, finishing eighth in just her second World Cup slalom start. Shiffrin began turning heads almost instantly when she finished in the top 15 of her first two NorAm Cup races. But the heads started spinning when she won a super combined in British Colombia two weeks later and transferred that momentum into a NorAm title and two World Cup starts as a first year J3.     Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal is known for his speed on the slopes. But it’s his speed climbing up virtually every leaderboard FIS Alpine Skiing has to offer that is catching the attention of everyone in the sport. The three-time Olympic medalist posted back-to-back wins this month in Lake Louise and Beaver Creek. Today he increased his early season tally to three wins, taking the Super-G crown in Val Gardena, Italy for the third time in his career. As a result, he became the first ever FIS Alpine Ski racer to win three World Cup races on the Saslong course.
