Bio

At only 23 years of age, the Vail, Colorado native opened the 2010-2011 ski season with a with a win in Wanaka, at the New Zealand Freeskier Open, improving his second place finish in last year’s event.

Seaton has been hit with a strain of injuries in recent years. Before blowing his ankle, many observers pegged Seaton as one to watch heading into the 2009-2010 competition season. He was set to compete at Winter X Games 14, but fell in practice, causing liver damage and some internal bleeding. But Seaton’s a fighter and there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that he possesses all the talent needed to pull off a successful season.

Taylor has his eye on the 2014 Olympics, where he hopes to compete in Halfpipe.

But what really makes Taylor so friggin’ cool?

“I would have to say either my really blonde hair or my unique low style in the halfpipe.”

Q & A

  1. When did you turn pro?

I would say 2009 was my breakthrough year, I was able to get on the podium five times.

  2. What are the events, wins, memories that stand out most throughout your career so far?

I remember watching the US Freesking Open every year in Vail and always wanting to do that when I grew up. One of my best memories is my first halfpipe win at Big Bear Open in California.

  3. So you're from New Zealand. That's literally in the middle of nowhere. How was that?

Haha no, I'm defiantly American. Although I have been there the past five seasons - and I would say my biggest skiing accomplishments have been down there. I'm still American.

  4. When did you first start skiing? Where/why?

I started skiing in my backyard up in the mountains close to Boulder, CO when I was 2 years old on some plastic Mickey Mouse skis. And that's how it all started.

  5. If you weren't shredding on skis, what would you be doing for a living?

Wow, I don't think I've been doing anything as long as I have been skiing. But I would probably be trying to be a professional b-boy. (Oakley: We have no idea what a "b-boy" is haha.)

  6. Talent...other than skiing (not including daily activities-such as picking your nose):

Let's see, well i built my 1981 jeep as a daily driver from almost scratch with my dad - so I'm pretty good at working on cars and fixing things, but its one of those things that takes so much trial and error that i would never want to get into it.

  7. Your Favorite...(Start with your favorite music artist or something):

    Music - reggae

  8. Oakleys are...

    Jet black polarized splice

  9. Best song to ride to:

Backcountry Part II - Cali P. - Idea soundtrack

  10. C-Walking, Head Banging or fist pumping? Which one?

Thizzle dance over all that any day haha

  11. Dream vacation spot:

Either the Caribbean islands, Jamaica or somewhere with huge mountains like AK

  12. Would you rather get punched in the gut by Mr. T. or super roundhouse kicked in the face by Chuck Norris?

Well a roundhouse kick by Chuck Norris is the preferred method of execution in 16 states - so I'll take the gut punch haha.

  13. People would be super surprised if they knew that you...

I can balance on one hand then go into a head spin...on a good day! (Oakley: That's sick!)

  14. What tricks are you working on?

Lots and lots of things, from a switch 10 double cork in the pipe to pre grab blunt cork 3's off jumps.

  15. You've been mistaken for...

Tanner Hall by the catering service at his birthday. haha it was a lil' awkward

  16. Food...

Fondu and basically anything with cheese... i like to cheese out haha

  17. Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus?

Both very pretty but seriously I couldn't listen to either of their music...

  18. Last words...

I would like to give a big thanks to my Parents, homies, the best ski technician Dano Bruno and the Vail Valley foundation.
