Jacob comes from a super talented family, his father is stand out golfer and his mother was a famous downhill racer. At the age of five, Jacob started skiing and slowly climbed to the top of the freeski world.

In 2005, Jacob popped onto the scene with a second place finish at Jon Olsson Invitational, and later won the “Air We Go” in Oslo, Norway. Over the past few seasons, Jacob has set the standard for the largest airs, popping the highest airs on the hips built late in the season at June Mountain in 2005 and Mammoth Mountain in 2006.

Jon Olsson has been a mentor to young Jacob; this past March he learned double corks from Jon. Jacob is just starting to showcase his potential in the freeski realm and is currently the stand out Am on the Armada Ski Team.

Q&A

  • You've won before...any thoughts going into the freestyle.ch this year? I’m really looking forward to doing the comp again, although I must admit I do feel a fair bit of pressure. Last year's final was sort of a spur of the moment thing where I hadn’t practiced my winning trick, instead I just said 'here goes nothing' and tried it for the first time in the finals. So I was lucky for sure. This year I feel like the bar has been raised, a lot of people will do the same trick, but in the end it's going to be all about who will stomp it in the slushy landing. I will do my best with it. .
  • For someone who hasn't been or doesn't know of freestyle.ch, what kind of contest is it? What's the vibe? Is it one of your favorite events? Oh, it for sure is one of my favorite comps all season because of the (usually) warm weather, the crowd that reaches the 30,000s, the music and just the whole mix of different action sports merged into one big festival. It is a great way to start off the season.
  • What did you do this summer? I surfed, went to indonesia for two months and backpacked. I surfed probably 4 hours a day.
  • Where will you ski the most this year? Plans for the season? I have no idea yet. It depends on the early comps, if I do alright I will film the rest of the season all over the place!
  • Coolest place skiing has taken you? New Zealand. I can't compare that place with any other country.
  • Where is some place you've always wanted to visit? Hawaii
  • Which talent would you most like to have? Social skills would be good.
  • What's the biggest purchase you've ever made? Probably my apartment that I bought together with my girlfriend, Sofia.
  • Greatest achievement? In skiing, last year's win at freestyle.ch, in surfing, getting shacked, brah.
  • Most prized possession? My 2003 Rickenbacker 360. (electric guitar)
  • What music are you listening to right now? Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. If you dont have the album, I strongly recommend it.
  • What are your favorite songs currently loaded onto your Thump? Thrice; Their album Indentity Crisis and Illusion of Saftey.
  • To me, Oakley is The shiznit.
  • Number of years participating in your sport 5
  • When did you start your sport? At age 5
  • If you could be someone famous, who would you be? I'd rather be myself.
