The 12th annual Powder Awards and Reader Poll returned to the historic – and rumored to be haunted – Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado last night. There was crazy energy in the hotel as everyone who’s anyone in the ski industry gathered for a night celebrating yet another amazing year of athletes crushing it, photographers freezing spectacular moments in time and video production teams putting it all on film for us to relive over and over again.

Red Bull Cold Rush: Sean Pettit & Grete Eliassen Crowned King and Queen of the Hill at Intense Backcountry Freeskiing Contest
Oakley is at the forefront of the backcountry freeski scene. And we have the “King and Queen of the Hill” to prove it. O ski chargers Sean Pettit and Grete Eliassen were crowned with the top honors at Red Bull Cold Rush, a progressive backcountry freeskiiing contest in Colorado, dazzling their peers and fans alike in super challenging terrain and conditions. From March 14–16 , 21 of the world’s best skiers competed in three disciplines – Big Mountain, Slopestyle and Cliffs – and the O emerged victorious.

New King: Sean Pettit Owns Linecatcher in Vars, France
Sean Pettit was barely short of the victory last year. But this year, Oakley’s Canadian Ski Star made sure that the backcountry in Vars was thoroughly slain with a double cliff drop at the top of his run, before hitting one of the ten shaped kickers on the course to spin a technical cork 7 – and finishing with a huge 360 off a natural feature. The result was a resounding victory at the third edition of Red Bull Linecatcher and Sean’s new coronation.
