Rune Glifberg Wins His First Gold
Rune Glifberg dominated the first year of Summer X Games Skate SuperPark. There honestly could not have been a better contest for him to take home his first X Games Gold Medal!
“This is my first gold, and it’s only been 14 years in the making,” Glifberg said jokingly after he won this year’s first Skateboard SuperPark event. Glifberg has made 14 X Games appearances since the event’s inception in 1995. Although he holds six bronze medals and two silver medals he had yet to land himself gold.
In a tough course for both the BMX and Skaters, Rune seemed to find a flow most searched for all weekend long. Glifberg who took full advantage of every practice session, made it all pay off with a convincing win.
“With this course you have to know exactly what you are going to do at all times or else you can get lost in it,” Glifberg said of the new SuperPark course. “I put in a lot of practice this week and it paid off, so I’m super stoked.”
With Rune’s Gold Medal on Sunday, Oakley Skate topped off the 14th Summer X Games with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, not a bad weekend.
