Curren Caples may be a newcomer to just having his driver’s license, but the young guy’s capabilities reach far beyond his age. The Ventura, Calif. native has been the talk of the town for the last few years, since making his X Games debut in 2010, and even more so now that he made the jump to the pro ranks at the 2013 Tampa Pro. At the 2010 X Games, Curren became the first male competitor to be born after the yearly event’s (now multi-yearly) debut in 1995 and was the youngest athlete competing that year on the pro level, despite still being an amateur.   • Love and Guts: Thrasher Magazine and Oakley Close 2011 With Celebration of Skateboarding, Art and O Heritage

    Skateboarding culture…and the art inspired by it…is alive and well. And the legendary Thrasher Magazine and Oakley are making sure of it – as the two iconic names closed out 2011 with the publication’s 30th anniversary and the Love and Guts Art Show at the Lab in Costa Mesa, Calif. With a feeling of nostalgia of the skateboarding’s storied past, a celebration of the sport’s future and an appreciation for art/photography – skate legends Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi, Neckface, Michael Sieben and Patrick O’Dell showcased their work at the exhibit – while Vans skateboarder Ray Barbee threw down some tunes as a spirited soundtrack for the festivities. With two local skate shop “takeovers” – BLENDS and CARVE (strong Oakley supporters) – Oakley’s unique history was also on display with a vibrant product time line.

    Shwayze and Cisco Adler are at it again. And they’re throwing down tunes and videos as hot as ever. The dynamic Oakley music artist/producer duo just dropped a new, super sick and mega O-laced music video for their new single Drunk Off Your Love, straight from their new album entitled Island in the Sun.

    Second place is never easy. Especially for Shaun White. But Oakley’s Star Snowboarder/Skateboard Vert standout still had one heck of a year on the Dew Tour – ending with the runner-up spot in Las Vegas this past week behind Pierre-Luc Gagnon. By a mere half-point. The two aerial beasts – constantly gunning for each other on the Vert Ramp in Summer X Games and Dew Tour, put on an amazing show, as always – throwing down insane runs.
